Opening Reception – Emilía Turner’s, “Unring a Bell” at Hi-Desert Community Darkroom

Join us on Saturday, October 8th from 6:30-9:30PM for the opening reception of “Unring a Bell” by Emilía Turner @liminals – on view in the Hi-Desert Community Darkroom @hidesertcommunitydarkroom gallery through December 3, 2022.

“Unring a Bell” features a selection of archival silver gelatin and pigment prints, and ink illustrations by Emilía Turner. The body of work comes from a new, self-published book of the same title, and explores human impact on desert landscapes. Imagined as a condensed ‘before and after’ or ’cause and effect’ view of industrialization, the series visits the high deserts of California and New Mexico at various points in time – from operational laboratory to abandoned wasteland.

Emilía Turner is a visual and sound artist, audio engineer, and darkroom technician based in Joshua Tree, California. Their visual work explores impermanent subjects like growth and decay, humanity’s complicated relationship with the planet, and paradoxes found in nature. They have exhibited visual and performance-based work throughout the US and Iceland.

LIMITED SIGNED COPIES of “Unring a Bell” will be available as 8×10 art books in-store & online.
