The Art of Paper Maché (also known as Cartonería) Workshop
On September 3rd & 11th, from 10-12:30, Jose Ledezma aka Aguatl, will be guiding The Art of Paper Maché (also known as Cartonería) Workshop at the Garcia Center for the Arts.
This 2-part workshop is fun and FREE
This workshop is primarily for youth but all are welcome. We will create our own mask/piñata/pieces. On the first day we will have an introduction, create a mold, and maché the pieces. The second day will be all about decoration.
Agua is known for his participation in the local San Bernardino performing art collective MILPA, where he incorporates masks as a component of MILPAS unique style. Agua is a teacher, visual and performing artist and has loved the art of Cartonería since a child. Agua recalls, watching his neighbor exhibit handmade piñatas for sale. Inspired by the neighbors ability to create amazing art pieces using cardboard and paper, Agua began to create his own pieces, in which he now fully integrates into live performances with MILPA.
Location: Garcia Center for the Arts, 536 W 11th St San Bernardino CA 92410
