My work is inspired by the painterly styles of impressionism and post-impressionism and the compositional styles of the early surrealists.
Many of my images are explorations of shape and patterns as the naturally occur and are heightened by the use of false color and black and white contrasts. The high contrast in my images is an attempt to render an image as it might be remembered or processed through memory . I strive to create images that transport a viewer to an imagined place and see a familiar or understood space in different light utilizing available light in the process.
I work with false color and traditional analogue film processes in an attempt to capture the feeling of a time and place rather than a true representation of it.
