Local Artists Honored at the Twentynine Palms Art Gallery 29 Palms Art Gallery

Awards were presented to 19 desert artists during a reception on Sunday, April 6, 2014 for the annual Members Show at the Twentynine Palms Art Gallery. Joshua Tree artist Bobby Furst was the judge this year.

The exhibition, which features nearly 70 works by members of the Twentynine Palms Artists’ Guild, will be on display at the Twentynine Palms Art Gallery, 74055 Cottonwood Dr., through April 28. 

In the Painting category, “Desert Rocks” by Arthur Quintana took first place while “Talking Rock” by Harley Baczkowski won second; “Vintage Memories”, a watercolor by Deborah Andersen, won third place; Andy Weddington, Darlene Morris and Sandra Lytch earned an Honorable Mentions for their works.

In the Photography category, “Elephant Knees” by Bill Dahl received first place; “Blue Chair” by Michelle Mark won second place; “Morning Shadows” by Mike Fagan won third; Honorable Mentions were awarded to Tammy Tremblay, Doug Dolde and Kim Clements.

In the “Works On Paper” category, Susan Madsen won first place for her monotype entitled “Gambel’s Quail”; Second place went to Noreen Lawlor for “TWA Corbies”; Sandra Lytch received third place for “Michelle In Sedona” and Joyce Eckersall received an Honorable Mention.

The “Other” category included ceramics, sculptures, mosaic, mixed media, and digital art. First place was awarded to Steve Flock for his metal sculpture, “Desert Sunset”; Second place went to Paul Morehead for digital art entitled “Enchanted Oak”; Darlene Morris received third place for Cityscape Skyline and both Aaron Scott and John Greenfield were awarded Honorable Mentions for their sculptures.

Gallery hours are noon to 3pm, Wednesday through Sunday.
