Over the past 15 years, JTHAR has hosted 110 national and international artists from Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, and over 17 states across the United States. Curator and JTHAR advisory board member Alma Ruiz praised the organization’s achievements, “We can only marvel at what the JTHAR founders have accomplished in a relatively short time. The residency’s reach in its short existence is to be commended and encouraged. Its positive impact on the artists’ professional growth is evident.”

This exhibition celebrates JTHAR’s 15th anniversary by showcasing thirty-six artworks completed during the residency. The artists selected are at all stages of their careers and work in all media, including drawing, painting, photography, film, video, new media, installation, fiction and non-fiction writing, interdisciplinary, social practice and architecture. Artists include Nicole Banowetz, Alfredo Barsuglia, Tom Birkner, Annika Bowker, Laurel Cohen, Joe Devera, Jacob Dudley, Bernard Ferguson, Nancy Floyd, Ger Ger, Justin Gibbens, Ben Hamburger, Dev Harlan, Irene Imfeld, Heidi Kayser, Kathleen King, Sungjae Lee, Chloe Manasseh, Saul Melman, Maryrose Cobarubbias Mendoza, Eric Merrell, Greg Minah, Robert Bryce Muir, Tim Murdoch, River Nelson, Rachel Ostrow, Ryan Parra, Dorene Quinn, Emily Quinn, Kyle Riedel, Sandy Rodriguez, Fernando Sanchez, Chris Shaw, Crystal Wagner, John Westmark and Chris Zickefoose.

JTHAR fosters creativity through opportunities for exploring, experimenting, quiet reflection, engagement and cross-cultural exchange with the vibrant local artist community. We establish spaces where inspiration happens on a daily basis, so artists can do the work of innovating, changing the cultural landscape and generating a fresh look at the way we connect to each other and to the world.
