Steven is a painter that was born and raised in the Midwest and has been creating art on and off for the past sixty years. He spent many hours as a young boy perusing modern art magazines. Although he has a great appreciation for the many disciplines of painting, he quickly realized his true passion was for the abstract view of things. The sum of his art education is self taught and a result of many hours spent painting and experimenting with different techniques and ways to apply paint. Steven began painting with watercolors and recently switched to acrylic based paints due to his curiosity about the medium, the ability to create larger pieces and the desire to add texture to the work. All of his work is created while listening to music and he believes that the music stimulates his creative juices and often creates a mood or an emotion that flows onto the paper or canvas.
Steven moved to Southern California in 2002. In 2011 he retired from his professional life as an executive with Union Pacific Railroad and decided to become a full time artist. This was always his dream as a young man and now has become a reality. Steven has shown his work at the SoHo Gallery, 57 Underground Gallery and the dA Center for the Arts in Pomona, CA, Artscape Spring & Summer 2013 and 2014 in Riverside, CA, and the CCMA Museum of Art in Ontario, CA. His work has also been exhibited at the Koehler Art Gallery, the Steelworker's Auditorium and the Art Depot Gallery in Fontana, CA.
