2016 Health Related Emergency Grant for Artists

Written by

Health Related Emergency Grant for Artists  Offered through the Women’s Center for Creative Work! The goal of this grant program is to provide more $30,000 in grants to artists who have a medical or dental emergency or have an illness-related financial need. Artists are eligible to apply for up to $3000. Typical grants will be between $2000-$3000.

We welcome applications from professional artists of all disciplines who live in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange Counties and identify as one or more of the following: female, person of color, or low-income.

Additionally, each grant recipient can also obtain 3 hours of consultation (case-management) within 3 months of receiving the award. This service will be provided by social work consultant, Tricia Smith, MSW, in order to make recipients aware of any resources or programs for which they may be eligible. Tricia Smith can meet in person at the Women’s Center for Creative Work, over the phone, or via Skype. The first three non-recipients who request this service will also be eligible to receive up to 3 hours of consultation within 3 months of notification. First come, first served.

Applications will be accepted between March 1st and 31st, 2016. A panel, comprised of artists and arts professionals from the represented counties, will select grant recipients winners based on applicant eligibility, artistic excellence, need, and the potential for the grant to be used effectively.

WCCW is pleased to facilitate this grant thanks to a generous anonymous donation. This granting opportunity fosters our ongoing goal of providing holistic support for artists and makers through feminist principles and seeks to create a conversation around the connections between gender, race, sexuality, class, privilege, access, and health.
