"The Inland Empire (IE) is as unique as it is inspirational, and it has been for a long time. There are many names that have grown out of, or been influenced in some way by this expansive area east of metro LA. Names like Wyatt and Virgil Earp, Barry Bonds, Rage Against the Machine, McDonald's, Lyndon B. Johnson, Dusty Baker, Frank Zappa, Blink-182, Reggie Miller, Al Capone, Taco Bell, Ken Griffey Jr, Matthew Modine, Garrett Wang, and Mark McGwire to name a few. All touched in in no small way by their experience in the IE. The area is challenging in many ways but also motivating. The artist is this show have been challenged and motivated in their work also; they have attended college, worked, or lived in the IE. Many have done all of the above. They all have drawn inspiration form the IE.

Art work showing now at the Gallery is by clients of the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health.

The works are done in many media, including oil, watercolor, iron, quilting and in forms such as paintings, shadow boxes, collage, sculpture, and digital art. This show is definitely worth taking the time to visit. In many cases, the talent is exceptional!

The artists have accompanied their pieces with comments about the role art plays in their lives:

“Art has always been a powerful outlet in my life;”

“It makes me feel alive, hopeful and that I do have purpose;”

“Art is the only way I can get the chaos that’s in my life, out.”

The opening reception was held on Friday, May 2nd----but the remaining times are available to see this outstanding exhibit: 12:30-6:00 on Friday, May 16th, Saturday, May 24th and Friday, May 30th. Try to find a time that is good for you, and be inspired!
