This Beautiful City: A photographic perspective by Michael Hardison

“San Bernardino is a beautiful city.” This simple statement, a conviction, comes easily to mind for Michael because he was raised here. Understandably, this concept may be hard to imagine or confirm by way of mainstream media. The city’s name alone evokes a negative image for most who have no first-hand knowledge of San Bernardino. This narrow focus does not come close to describing the city nor the community.

With a rich and diverse history, San Bernardino has the potential to regain its vibrancy and strength. What began as a personal response to tragedy has evolved into showcasing the city’s landscape in a positive light. The images in this exhibition, and forthcoming book, portray the artist’s view of San Bernardino - confirming that beauty exists here, if you slow down and look for it.
