Registration will be via email and snail mail for checks. Check–in on Saturday morning, April 1, 2017 in front of RAM to stamp canvases, paper, and receive your “Goody Bag.”
New this year To kick off the Paint Out on Saturday, April 1, 2017, we will have one (1), mini-workshop consisting of 2 hours at RAM with the following accomplished artist: Katherine Duncan from the Golden Artists Colors, Inc., at 12:30 pm. She will be giving an extra, super Goody Bag to workshop participants. Please note: thisworkshop is offered free to Paint Out participants andfriends of PAAR. Please sign up for this on the attached Locations Sign-Up Sheet and also below. A free lunch will be provided to PAAR Paint Out participants and $5 donation for Non-PAAR members between 12 noon and 12:30 pm prior to the workshop. Art supply vendors: Randy Higbee King of Frame, Jack Farley’s Art Supply, The Brush Guys, Golden Artists Colors, Inc., and Best Brella will have in booths on the lawn at RAM. If inclement weather, they will be inside.
Sunday, April 2nd , artists will paint at Kimberly Crest. New this year, we have a model who will pose for up to 4 hours during the day for you to paint. April 3 - April 6th artists will paint at Kimberly Crest Mansion. April 7th and 8th will be at Prospect Park. These nine days of painting will follow the methods of the French Impressionists, who sought to capture the light and atmosphere of the scenes before them. The Paint Out Exhibit and Award date is Sunday, April 30th from 1 – 4 pm at the Kimberly Crest Mansion. See below for follow-on exhibit.
EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION FEE is $45 until March 22nd. All participants must be members of PAAR & RAM. After March 22nd, you may enter the Paint Out up till the day of check-in for an additional fee of $5, plus the RAM and PAAR dues, if we have not reached our limit of 75 participants. Late applicants may not receive all data materials offered to pre-registered artists. Note: lunch and workshop is free to Paint Out participants. $5 donation to Non- PAAR members.
PAAR Membership Renewal:PAAR membership Renewal is due and payable by April 1. This change was adopted by the Board because so many new members joined PAAR in April of 2015 during our Anniversary Paint Out Celebration. Take advantage of the few months before April 1 to send in your PAAR renewal before having to pay the Paint Out fee and RAM renewals if you are due.
WHEN: Participating artists will receive their information electronically by March 1st – This includes details of the Paint Out, locations, exhibit details, and info on our Bonus Painting Days at Kimberly Crest. (When you receive your materials, PLEASE READ AND PRINT IMMEDIATELY. We will not be doing mailing.
STAMPING: All Paint Out paper, canvas, and other painting surfaces must be stamped with the PAAR Paint Out 2017 stamp. Stamping will be available all day Saturday, April 1st and each day at the painting site from 8:00-8:30am Each day begins between 8:00-8:30 am - Water and a light lunch will be provided on Saturday, April 1, but please plan to bring your lunch and plenty of water every day that you paint.
MINI ART EXPO: Vendors will have booths outside RAM from 9:00 am to 2 pm. on Saturday, April 1st.
QUICK DRAW: There will be a Quick Draw on Sunday, April 9, with judging and announcement of the winners on site immediately after, Judge Lorraine Dawson.New this year, you will once again have a model from 9 am to 11:30 am or you can do a Quick Draw of the Mansion or grounds, your choice.
EXHIBIT TAKE IN: Sunday, April 30th, 2017(only one day due to space considerations), 9:00 am to 11 am at Kimberly Crest Mansion. Please arrange with another artist if you cannot be present for the Take-in date. Note: This is the same day as the Reception and Awards. Please note: New this year, after the 9-day paintings are judged at 11-12 noon, you may place for sale other paintings created of Kimberly Crest only during previous years. The 30% to Kimberly Crest will also apply.
EXHIBIT: Judge: David Fairrington. The Paint Out exhibit is one day only, Sunday, April 30th from 12 noon – 4 pm. Due to space constraints, you may exhibit one ready-to-hang, 9-Day painting, maximum size16x20, including frame, unsigned, for the juried exhibit and you may exhibit your previously juried Quick Draw painting plus other paintings created of Kimberly Crest as stated above. The 9-Day paintings will be juried on April 30th at 11- 12 noon. A decorative easel is a must. Unsold paintings must be picked up same day. Please arrange with another artist if you cannot claim your paintings on April 30th. New this year, following 4/30 juried one-day exhibit, we will have a month-long exhibit at the Vanguard Gallery in Moreno Valley during the month of May. Details to follow. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, two(2) Honorable Mention, will be revealed at Noon, and People’s Choice Award at the dinner.
RECEPTION/PRIZES & AWARDS: Sunday, April 30th, 2017. VIP preview 12 noon - 4 pm, for the public. Awards Dinner and Artists’ Celebration. 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm afterwards at Spaghetti Factory. A $20 Check deposit (Non-refundable)at check-in day is requested. Includes meal, 18% gratuity, and tax. Beverages and alcohol are separate. Check to be made out to Sylvia Christianson. Dollar amount is $20.
People’s Choice Award, Prizes, including checks, gift certificates, and art products will be awarded to artists/winners during the Awards Dinner.
