Lecture & Demonstration: Digital Painting

Thursday, 11/10 7:30pm-9pm

Watch how you can paint with pixels as Candice Broersma reveals the different steps in her process for creating digital art in Adobe Photoshop. The demonstration will highlight specific Photoshop tools such as brush settings, layer modes, and adjustments as well as general painting techniques for realistic rendering. Following the 1 hour demonstration will be a half-hour Q&A for questions from participants. Everyone is welcome to bring their laptops and drawing tablets to the demonstration.

Workshop: Fantasy Portraits

Session 1: Monday, 11/14 3:30pm-5:00pm

Session 2: Wednesday, 11/16 3:30pm-5:00pm

This 2-day workshop will take you through the process of making a portrait of a fantasy character with the aid of a sculpted maquette! Participants will be choosing either a mermaid or a fawn as the basis for their portrait drawing and will begin by conceptualizing their character. Students will then learn sculpting basics and create a bust of their fantasy character to use as reference for their final piece.
