Désirée Zamorano is the author of the acclaimed literary novel The Amado Women, as well as numerous short stories and essays.
 
Luivette Resto, is the author two books of poetry Unfinished Portrait & Ascension have been published Tia Chucha Press.
 
Poetry workshop w/ Luivette Resto: 5:00-5:50 p.m.
Free & limited to the first 15 atendees. Participants will have the opportunity to share their work at the beginning of the reading.

PoetrIE has been awarded a California Humanities Grant and it will use it for a new series at the Garcia Center. The new series is called, "Sin FIltro: Workshops, Readings, and Conversations." Each event will have a writing workshop around 5:00-5:50 pm, that will be led by one of the featured writers. After the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to read from their work at the beginning of the 6:00 program. They will host two featured writers each month who will read from their work and engage the audience, and each other, in a conversation. The workshops are free but limited to the first 15 attendees, and the readings will also be free. There will be light refreshments served, and there will also be books for sale.
